Volunteer Orientation

In March Say Ça! organized two training workshops for the 13 new language tutors and animators at Concordia University. The main topics of the training were Syrian cultural heritage and customs, nonverbal communication and active listening skills, literacy and education, and crisis management techniques.

Special thanks to the visiting lecturers Fadi Fadel, Diane Demers, Ben Barrows, Kate Woolhouse, and Teresa Hernandez-Gonzalez for leading the fruitful discussions about these important topics, to Krystyna Slawecki and Alex Michaud from Frontier College for educating us about different aspects of literacy, and the Montreal Playback Theatre for reflecting volunteers’ concerns and feelings of excitement in their play.
